People who have been subjected to violent crimes in Canada will always say there is never going to be a price tag that relates to what they have been through, though violent crimes mainly as sexual assault, other sexual offences has had an economic impact on this country. After a study was conducted, the results concluded that in 2009 Canada had an economic impact of $12.7 billion, the results showed many factors that created that number which included medical care and lost wages to court and social welfare costs. The largest single cost of that number— $4.8 billion of the total — was attributed to sexual assault and other sexual offences, crimes in which more than 90 per cent of victims were women and children.
